About Claire
Claire McKenzie-Sime (she/her), Specialist Occupational Therapist, Late Diagnosed Autist
Hi, I am the founder of NeuroSense. I began my career as an OT after graduating with an MSc from Caledonian University in Glasgow in 2018 and later as a Sensory Integration Therapist in 2025. Since then I have gained extensive clinical experience in both private and NHS healthcare settings, assisting people with physical health and mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, diagnosed and undiagnosed ADHD/ASD, and sensory processing difficulties.
I was the Clinical Lead of the Adult Autism Diagnostic Service for NHS Highland, a journey which began with my own late Autism diagnosis while I was working as an OT in community mental health. I have now moved into the private sector to consolidate my knowledge and offer all of my skills in person and remotely, to permit both pre and post-diagnostic support.
I have lived experience of what it is like to go through the assessment process and just how difficult it can be, so I have since devoted myself to certifying and training as an assessor for neurodevelopmental conditions, using different diagnostic tools (ADOS 2, DIVA 5 & ADI-R) which are of the gold standard for Autism and ADHD.
If you are looking for an indication of whether having a full assessment would be beneficial for you then I can help you.
Additionally, I can help you with what comes next. Often due to NHS constraints, when you do get a positive Autism diagnosis, there little support afterwards, especially if you are an adult - something that I want to help change.
What sets NeuroSense apart from other services?
With NeuroSense, I am here to support you on whichever part of the Neurodevelopmental Pathway you are on, whether you identify as self-diagnosed, are awaiting diagnosis or are post diagnosis abnd don't know what to do now.
I don't discriminate between those who have an NHS or private diagnosis and I particularly want to help if you have been prevented from accessing assessment, or have been given a negative diagnosis but still need help.
I have partnered with Glasgow Psychology Centre to ensure best practice and adherence to SIGN and NICE guidelines and follow advice from the Scottish Government on Neuro-affirmative assessment through NAIT.
I use the gold standard assessment tools - ADOS-II, DIVA-V, ADI-R, ACIA and Conners3 diagnostic tools for ADHD and Autism (I no longer seperate the terms Autistic Spectrum from Autism as this is considered best practice).
I use standardised assessment tools for Sensory Processing Assessments such as SPM-2 and AASH.
I will be able to provide Dyspraxia Assessments beginning January 2026, to help complete a fully holistic profile our you/your child's support needs.
I have a full PVG and DBS disclosure for working with children & vulnerable adults and I am registered with The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), The British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT) and I'm an Alumni of the Sensory Integration Education Club.
Most of my sessions can be provided via Zoom, Whatsapp, MSTeams etc, so you can choose whatever communication channel is best for you, should you not be able to attend in person.
In person sessions and assessments will be conducted from within:
